Uganda cranes yesterday exited the Africa cup of nations tournament after succumbing to a 15th minute superb finish from Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.
Playing in his second AFCON tournament, Mane scored his third goal of the tournament though missed a penalty that would have helped him take his tally to four.
This was the second time the Senegal international failed to score a penalty in this year’s tournament after also failing out on scoring from the spot in the last group game against Kenya.
Despite his failure to score the penalty, Mane is the tournament’s leading goal scorer with three.
Uganda cranes who finished second in group A played poorly all the 90 minutes losing themselves on the pitch, with a disorganized defense that saw Senior player Hasan Wasswa Mawanda leave the pitch injured early in halftime.
It was the cranes first appearance at the AFCON last sixteen in 41 years but the team really lacked the technical ability to do the football magic on the pitch.
