With only one week a head of Makerere University’s historical 70th graduation starting on 14th January 2020, about 80% of the preparations are done.
A total of 13,860 students will graduate with bachelors, Masters and PhDs with the college of Education having the biggest number of graduands.
The on going processes are printing and issuing out of gradation booklets, issuance of transcripts in some colleges and beautication of freedom square where the ceremony will take place.
According to one of the top officials at Makerere University, all is set for the university’s 70th graduation ceremony, which starts on 14th January to 17th January 2020.
“13,860 students will be graduating and the printing of graduation booklets is currently underway. Graduands are required to have successfully cleared with their academic units, halls of residence, as well as the university library, hospital, police station and finance department to be eligible for graduation”. He explained
The university’s Academic Registrar has already released lists of graduands who are confirmed to graduate in the four-day graduation period.
The Ceremony will be held from Tuesday 14th to Friday 17th January 2020 at the Makerere University Freedom Square.More information indicates that a total of 13,509 graduands (50.5% female and 49.5% male) will be conferred upon degrees and awarded diplomas during the four-day ceremony. A total of 420 Graduands obtained a Cummulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) above 4.40 hence attaining first class segrees.
According to the university website, the best student in the Humanities was Namukose Rita who obtained a CGPA of 4.92 in the Bachelor of International Business of Makerere University Business School, while Namayengo Sarah topped the Sciences with a CGPA of 4.83 in the Bachelor of Conservation Forestry and Product Technology of Makerere University.
