The National Unity Platform flag bearer and principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has agreed to Uganda Police’s pre-set guidelines about tomorrow’s nomination program.
In the letter sent to Bobi Wine by Police, Bobi Wine has been informed that he will be led by Police’s lead car from his home in Magere, Kasangati, Wakiso to the nomination centre and then back home. His entourage will use the route through Magere, Kumbuzi, Kisasi, Ntinda through Strecher road to Spear Motors, Kyambogo University Junction and finally to the Nomination Centre.
Police said that they are doing this to make sure he arrives safely and timely to and from the nomination centre and asked for his cooperation.
Bobi Wine has said that he is okay with the route and also okay with having the police lead car but he informed the police that after the nominations, together with his entourage, they will head to the party offices to launch the 2021-2026 Manifesto.
“Police has written to me about this route…We have no problem and we shall follow this route to the nominations venue. After that, we shall head straight to our office in Kamwokya where we shall launch our manifesto!” said Bobi Wine on his social media profile.
Police’s letter did not give an assurance of whether Bobi Wine will be allowed to go to Kamwokya party offices after nomination since basing on the route they gave him to use to and from the nomination centre will take him back to his home in Magere after nominations.
“Your route to and from the venue will be as follows” part of the police letter emphasized.
Bobi Wine also challenged police to treat NUP supporters who will stand on the way to wave to their candidate the way it treated the NRM supporters today during the nomination of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“Today, we saw people mobilised by NRM standing along different roads, guarded by the police, unmolested. We hope the police will behave the same way if our supporters stand and by the road to wave to us” Bobi Wine concluded.
Bobi Wine will be nominated on 3rd November 2020.
