Makerere University students from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity are bitter following the administration’s decision to have them study online yet other science courses like Human Medicine are going to be studying physically come 1st March 2021.
According to a student who spoke to Campus Bee anonymously, Makerere University has already set their time table and students from year 2, 3 and 4 at COVAB will be studying online.
“Help us and raise our voices. For we have failed to be listened to by the administration. They have set time tables for studying online for veterinary students of yr.2, 3 ,and 4 at COVAB yet our friends studying human medicine are studying physically,” the student told this website
“They have left us wondering whether Veterinary Medicine is an art Course,” the bitter student added.
The student further disclosed that they are not ready to accept online lectures despite having received the time table. According to the student, many scholars hail from remote areas where internet connection is a big challenge.
The source added that many students in year three didn’t go for recess term to Buyana as the administration claimed that there is no money to facilitate the lecturers responsible.
So we as vets we are going for a sit down strike. We won’t study online. We shall not spend any data on zoom, students don’t have gadgets to use, and many come from remote areas with no internet access. Whoever wishes to lecture us, it should be physical for as far as I know vet is a medical course although government never listed it on those that should be opened.” The student added.
Below is their time table;
